Medvedev: New transport, ecology norms necessary for economic leap

MOSCOW, Jan 15 (PRIME) -- Russia needs to revise its transportation, environmental protection, industrial security requirements to reduce pressure on business and achieve an economic breakthrough, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at the Gaidar forum on Tuesday.

“If we want… an economic breakthrough, we need to reduce pressure on entrepreneurs and revise the system of requirements… for transportation, environmental protection, industrial security, veterinary, sanitary and epidemiological supervision. The issue can be solved using a so-called regulatory guillotine mechanism,” he said.

A road map for adjusting the regulatory requirements should be designed until February 1, 2020, he added.

“We have to introduce modern norms which will be clear for both the business and the supervisory bodies. The result is a transparent control system aimed at solving security issues and accelerating economic growth.”

The prime minister also said that around 1 million people should be re-educated and that upgrade of the transport, power and informational infrastructure is a core task for such a large country.
